Program of Study

The Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree offered by the Department of Chemical Engineering is concentrated on building both hard and soft skills through Chemical Engineering program. In the program, students share math and basic sciences courses as well as specific courses such as the thermodynamics sequence, transfer science sequence, kinetics, and process design. The Chemical Engineering curriculum has been deliberately designed and can be divided into four categories:

  1. College math and Basic Sciences courses: students in the undergraduate program at ChE KMUTNB are required to complete extensive coursework in mathematics, chemistry, and physics in the first year. The math includes mathematics sequence: calculus through differential equations and an applied math course in engineering. The sciences include Chemistry and Physics.

  2. Specific and Engineering topics: These courses are specifically address educational background, knowledge, skills, and professional competency requirements prepared for students’ careers in Chemical engineering.

  3. General educations: These courses build on the general engineering courses and provide the students with depth in a particular concentration or sub-discipline, including language, human science, and social.

  4. Others: Internship is included in the curriculum to build on relevant skills and experiences in Chemical Engineering field.

Table shows the plan of study for students in Chemical Engineering program of KMUTNB.

All classes are operated on a semester basis, with three credit hours representing one lecture class and 1 credit hour representing a laboratory class. Each semester is running approximately 15-16 weeks and two semesters are counted for one academic year. All engineering courses in the curriculum are conducted beyond simple knowledge transfer by building competence of students in integrating and applying principle knowledge to actual engineering practice via problem-based and/or project-based learning as following Module A-H.
